Vita - My Latest Sculpture Creation

Malleable wax. Hands guided by the heart. These are the recurrent elements of my craft, all I need to give shape to emotions I have inside that want to be expressed and shared with the world.

As always, I had no idea of where my imagination and feelings were going to lead me to, and as always I just let myself go and allowed my manual skills to show me my deepest inner emotions. Vita is the latest result of this process, a framed sculpture, a one-of-a-kind artwork that combines different figures and has them interacting in the world.

Vita means life in Italian, and puts together different people. It is composed of 11 sculptures created through the ancient lost-wax technique. Exactly like in our daily life, each of these figures is a life, a personality of its own, but in need and shaped by the ongoing exchange with others. Mothers, daughters, sons, fathers. Men and women, young adults, floral elements. Some protecting, others asking to be protected, to be guided.

I believe that we are so linked to one another that, like wax, we are all shaped through our relationships, through the meaningful interplay we experience everyday. We give and take. We all have flaws and virtues. We all have good days and bad days... and we all experience the same emotions.

Once my sculptures were finished, I felt I wanted to unite them and chose a handmade frame with a mirror at its center. The frame is like a painting and has a number of intertwined circles that refer exactly the interactions we have in our lives. I can't tell you that each sculpture has a specific meaning, because the truth is that each one of them can symbolize something different to each of us, bringing back memories, arising new emotions, maybe even helping us understand parts of ourselves or of our dear ones we had not yet figured out.

Every sculpture is at the same time independent and part of a whole, for this reason each one of them can be unscrewed from the frame and be held in our hands, close to our heart.

A completely new creation, the expression of my desire to be part of this world and share as much as possible with the souls that make my everyday unique. A creation not so easy to describe, but that I feel deeply.
